Tango One

EMO Electric's purpose built electric power catamaran

Meet Tango One. Our all aluminum electric foiling catamaran is the culmination of 4 years of dreaming, design, engineering, fabrication, a bunch of heart ache, patience, determination and some luck.

Originally inspired by T.R. and his dad Bob, they dreamed up an electric boat concept which would be both quiet and solar powered. Bob passed away in 2022 and this boat is dedicated to him. We took our time to think through the details and we are proud to share this boat with the electric boating world.

Bay Crusher

Because we are based in Moriches Bay, NY we built this boat to be the ultimate bay boat with a twist. It crushes landing on sandbars, casual floats, fishing frenzies, and ripping home in record time. Here are some of other thoughtful features with the bay in mind:

  • Very low draft of 18" can get you into even the most shallow of sandbars.
  • We built Tango One to have greater shading with an aluminum hardtop and extendable solar shade to keep things cool for you and the kids in hot summer float sessions.
  • With the extra solar shade the solar system is 800 Watts and charges an Enphase IQ PowerPack. Plenty of power to charge phones, TV, fans, electric coolers. It is removable so you can take it with you to the beach or whatever onshore landing adventure you can cook up.
  • We included a small head area so not everyone has to go to the bathroom in the water!
  • We added a little berth for your kids to chill and watch a movie or you can crawl into to take a conference call.
  • The boat comes with thick custom cushions then enables hardcore chilling up on the day bed at the bow or comfy conversations in the aft of main cabin.
  • The swim platform creates another social area for folks hang, swim, or dangle a foot in the water and chat with friends.
  • Inside mounted EZ Anchor Puller Windlass for when you are ripping out on your own and could use some help on the bow. Or maybe your marriage is at risk every time your spouse can't pull the anchor. Either scenario is easier with the windlass.

Get Ready

Tango One is still in development and once we feel like the hull is optimized we will begun taking pre-orders Summer of 2026.

  • Downeast Style

Tango One gives a nod to the classic downeastern style hull, but with the modern twist of a catamaran hull, aluminum hull, and, of course, an electric propulsion system.

  • Catamaran Hull

In 2025, the weight of the batteries is the major limiting factor in electric boats. By using a catamaran style hull for the Tango One, opposed to a traditional monohull, we get more range with less battery capacity.

  • Foils

Designed by Morrelli & Melvin, the Tango One's foils help reduce drag, improve efficiency, and ultimately increase range without the need for more battery capacity. Foil optimization is still ongoing in late 2025.

  • Outboards

The Tango One is powered by two electric outboards manufactured by Flux Marine. Each motor provides 115HP of continuous power, with an acceleration power of 175HP.

  • Batteries

Each outboard is powered by two 28kWh Flux Marine Li-Ion NMC battery packs, bringing the total battery capacity to 112kWh.

  • Propellers

Tango One is currently propelled by two Michigan Wheel DJX props. More testing is underway to optimize hole shot, top speed and range.

Solar Powered Chill Zone

Finishing work on the Tango One is still ongoing. We intend to develop the interior as a solar powered chill zone. A place for you to enjoy a meal with friends. Take a nap on the day bed, or have a cocktail while cruising in silence. EVA foam decking has been installed to soften the look of the aluminum hull and provide noise reduction. The vast majority of the hull has been painted, and vinyl accents will be added in the future. Premium audio and Lumishore accent lighting will create a floating oasis to soak in your time on the water.

Preliminary Testing Data

Our initial testing data is below. The performance report and testing indicates that the foils and propellers are not optimized, and much more testing is in the works! As we tune these elements we hope to achieve higher top speeds and even more range.

Fast Start

Bottom line is that this boat rips. It's instant torque and powerful motors get you up to top speed in under 5 seconds. It's wild. For those craving the acceleration of an EV's on the water this boat delivers like few others out there.
