Tango One
EMO Electric's purpose built electric power catamaran
When we started EMO Electric in 2022, we had a dream of building our own purpose built electric boat. Instead of packing as many batteries as possible into a hull, why not design an efficient hull around the batteries themselves? Working with Wolverine Boatworks for design, Mowbray Custom Fabrication for the build, and Flux Marine for the propulsion system, we were able to bring this dream to life.
Design
Working with Wolverine Boat Works and Flux Marine, we were able to design the hull around the dimensions and weight of the batteries. With 56kWh of capacity per motor, the Tango One would have less battery capacity compared with other boats on the market. But unlike other boats, the Tango One was designed with maximum hull efficiency in mind. Her catamaran style hull would reduce wetted surface area, and her foils would help reduce drag.

Fabrication
Once the design process was complete, we worked with Mowbray Custom Fabrication and Malay Laser to fabricate the hull in Warwick, Rhode Island. Progress was slow and steady, but over time, the boat began to come together.

Propulsion System Installation
After the fabrication was completed, the boat was partially painted, then Flux Marine installed the propulsion system. The boat is powered by two 115 HP electric outboards, each with two 28kWh Li-Ion NMC battery packs, totaling 112kWh. Flux Marine completed initial sea trials in September of 2025.

Finishing Work
After the propulsion system was installed, the painting of the hull was completed and EVA foam decking was installed. We recieved delivery of the Tango One in October of 2025.

Preliminary Testing Data
Our initial testing data is below. The performance report and testing indicates that the foils and propellers are not optimized, and much more testing is in the works!
