Does ePropulsion make a lock for the Spirit?
No, unfortunately ePropulsion does not make a lock for the Spirit 1.0 Plus or Spirit Evo. But on the bright side, there are other ways to lock your Spirit to your dinghy or sailboat!
What's the best way to lock your ePropulsion Spirit?
The best way to lock your Spirit 1.0 Plus or Spirit Evo to your boat is with these 3D printed locks designed for the ePropulsion Spirit. There is one locking device that fits into the top of the Spirit Battery Plus and another that prevents the transom mount screws from being turned.
These high quality locks for the Spirit 1.0 Plus and Spirit Evo are 3D printed in Europe. They are made of high quality, durable plastic and stainless steel. The lock itself has a small piece of metal that is designed to prevent water or debris from entering the lock itself. The designer of these locks has been using it to lock his Spirit 1.0 Plus on his dinghy for his sailboat in Croatia for two years. He has told us that there's no sign of rust on the Spirit lock and that it has been holding up well!
How do you install the ePropulsion Spirit locking device?
Installation of the locking device is simple. To lock the Spirit Battery, you simply attach the battery to the shaft as you normally would, then insert the locking device into the top of the battery, and turn the key. Your battery is safe!
Installing the motor lock on your ePropulsion Spirit isn't quite as easy, but after you do it once you won't have to even think about it! First, install your Spirit on to the back of your boat as you normally would, but make sure that the blue knobs on the transom boat face inwards. Then, insert the left blue knob into the closed off slot of the locking device.
What are other ways to lock the Spirit 1.0 Plus?
The cheapest way to lock your ePropulsion Spirit is with a cable lock. You can run the cable through the handle in the battery, behind the metal bar on the inside of the transom mount of the motor, then through somewhere on your boat. While this solution can secure your Spirit to your boat, you need to take lock on and off each time you'd like to use your motor, unlike the ePropulsion Spirit Lock Set. A cable lock can be easily cut with bolt cutters. With this in mind, we don't think that a cable is the best way to lock your ePropulsion Spirit.
