Information on the ePropulsion eLite Electric Outboard

Two weeks ago, ePropulsion announced the eLite electric outboard. We think that the ePropulsion eLite will be a game changer for the market for small outboards. The 1.5hp electric outboard weighs only 15 pounds and retails at just $999, making it the lightest and least expensive electric outboard on the market with an integrated battery. The eLite doesn't need to be winterized, requires virtually no regular maintenance, and is even quieter than the ePropulsion Spirit 1.0 Plus (which is virtually silent)! We've had a lot of questions from customers on the ePropulsion eLite electric outboard, many of which are answered below.

How do you charge the ePropulsion eLite electric outboard?

The ePropulsion eLite electric outboard comes with a standard 110v charger that can be plugged into a regular wall outlet. ePropulsion will also produce 12v and solar chargers for the eLite, but there at the time of this writing there are no plans for a fast charger for the eLite outboard. In Europe, the standard charger for the eLite is 220v, which is why you may see this listed on ePropulsion's website.

Does the ePropulsion eLite electric outboard float?

Unlike the ePropulsion Spirit battery, the ePropulsion eLite does not float.

When will the ePropulsion eLite outboard be available?

The first batch of ePropulsion eLite outboards will be available to customers in early to mid April of 2024, but the quantity will be very limited and we expect to sell out. The eLite will be more readily available in May. We have already had a number of pre-orders for April deliveries and highly recommend placing a preorder if you are interested in an eLite!

How much does the ePropulsion eLite electric outboard weigh?

The ePropulsion eLite weighs just 14.7 pounds (including the battery)! The motor and battery are one self-contained unit that slides into a transom bracket that weights 2.7 pounds. We expect that most boaters will leave the ePropulsion eLite transom bracket in place, but if you were to lift them both together, the total weight of the elite outboard and bracket would be 17.4 pounds.

Does the ePropulsion eLite electric outboard outboard come with a warranty?

Yes, the ePropulsion eLite comes with a two year warranty. It is possible that customers will be able to get an additional year of coverage if the register their eLite with ePropulsion, but we are waiting to confirm this with ePropulsion.

How many horsepower is the ePropulsion eLite electric outboard?

The ePropulsion eLite is a 1.5hp electric outboard. The eLite has a 500W motor, which will have a similar power output to a 1.5hp gas outboard.

Yes, you can adjust the shaft length of the eLite electric outboard. There are four different shaft length settings: 15.8in, 14.3in, 12.7in and 11.1in. A hex wrench is needed to adjust the eLite outboard shaft length.

How longs does the ePropulsion eLite outboard battery last?

In calm conditions on an 8ft dinghy with one person, the ePropulsion eLite battery has a run time of about 45 minutes at full throttle and about 90 minutes at half throttle. Does the ePropulsion eLite outboard have a steering lock for sailboats?

The ePropulsion eLite does not have a steering lock to keep the eLite centered, but it does have adjustable throttle friction. While we have not yet tested this, we expect that the eLite outboard will stay centered when your hand comes off of the tiller if you have tightened the eLite's steering friction.
